Recently, we spoke with a client about quality assurance for bored concrete piles. The question was simple:
“How can we best ensure the quality of the piles we install?”
The answer depends largely on when the question is asked.
Methods such as TIP and CSL provide valuable insights into pile geometry and concrete quality, but they require planning before the reinforcement cage is fabricated and the pile is cast. Once the pile has been installed, these opportunities are often no longer available.
PIT, on the other hand, can be carried out after installation and is a flexible method for integrity testing. However, it does not provide the same level of detail as TIP and CSL.
