We often find that the need to document the integrity of the piles arises only after they have been cast. However, the greatest value is often achieved when quality assurance is considered and planned before the concrete casting begins.
With Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP) from PDI, Inc., sensors are attached to the reinforcement cage before concrete casting. As the concrete cures, the system records the temperature development, allowing us to identify variations in pile geometry, concrete cover, and potential anomalies just a few days after casting.
When wireless monitoring is used, the curing process can be tracked through DMT's cloud-based platform, enabling data analysis without the need for a field technician to visit the construction site to collect measurements.
This means the project team gains valuable insights early in the process.
Early enough to:
✔ Identify potential deviations
✔ Make informed decisions
✔ Reduce the risk of costly surprises later in the project
✔ Document quality
The greatest value of testing and monitoring is therefore not necessarily in identifying and documenting defects.
It lies in creating confidence and ensuring quality while there is still time to take action.
